This consultation can take place whenever a nursing parent would like to pump to increase supply, to introduce a bottle, or because they will be separated from their baby. These consultations include flange fitting, a review of a pump’s settings, and sharing tips to protect supply when pumping.


What Takes Place During a Pump Consultation?

  • Breast/chestfeeding parent’s pumping situation is assessed

  • Flange fitting to ensure that they fit comfortably and that pumping is efficient

  • Review how to use a nursing parent’s specific pump and the ways to use the different pump settings optimally

  • Review tips to ensure that the pump is able to fully drain a nursing parent’s breasts to protect supply

  • Breast/chestfeeding parent will receive a customized Plan of Care, which may include: Recommendations for when to pump, how long to pump to protect supply, and how to safely store your pumped milk and feed it to your baby.
