I am thankful that I had access to a lactation consultant through the San Diego Breastfeeding Center Foundation at a discounted/affordable rate during the first weeks and months after having my first child. Breastfeeding was an ever-changing thing for us and being able to have this type of support was what I needed to push through and even enjoy the experience and make sure my son was getting what he needed in a way that was sustainable. We are still breast-feeding fifteen months in, and it has been both the hardest and sweetest aspect of motherhood.
