Robin Kaplan gets all five stars for not only her breastfeeding class, which my husband and I attended this summer, but her excellent work as a lactation consultant after our baby was born. I faced some weight issues with our little one and had to call in her services for help. She was friendly, was able to fit us in quickly, and gave us a discount because we had attended her class. But even better is that after the initial consultation, Robin was available for multiple phone calls and helped us re-evaluate and reconfigure our plan as needed without additional charge. Her positive and kind nature together with an ability to tailor her advice to a variety of situations is the reason I have enjoyed working with her so much during a challenging time. I highly recommend both the class and the consult to other expecting and new moms.
Robin is an amazing teacher! I send all of my HypnoBirthing parents to her classes. She keeps it simple and fun. Dads enjoy her classes and feel a part of the whole breastfeeding scene by the time the class is over. Robin keeps very up to date with the latest research and her relaxed manner makes my moms feel confident and secure. She also is there for my moms who have any hiccups after the baby gets here. Robin is a wonderful resource for our community!
I contacted the San Diego Breastfeeding Center after my son was born and ran into some breastfeeding issues. My son was not latching well or was not able to extract milk well even after an hour to an hour and a half of nursing and I had no idea why. I had the good fortune of working with Ashley Treadwell and she was even able to come over for an in home consultation the very next day after I called to get help. She was compassionate, caring and extremely knowledgeable. She was able to identify some issues that my son’s pediatrician had not, including a tongue and upper lip tie which were inhibiting his ability to extract breast milk. She also recommended some alternative therapies such as infant chiropractic care and cranial sacral massage which I would have never thought of on my own. Under Ashley’s plan of care, my son thrived and gained back his weight and then some in less than a week. It’s been three months and he is still exclusively breastfeeding and gaining weight. The San Diego Breastfeeding Center markets itself as offering “judgment-free” care and it is so true. Ashley was literally the only medical professional who did not make me feel like I was a failure. I honestly don’t think I would have been able to work through everything and persevere with breastfeeding if it had not been for Ashley’s help. We have stayed in touch via email since the consultations and she’s always there to answer any questions or concerns that pop up. Ashley was an absolute Godsend to me at a very difficult and stressful time in my and my son’s life and truly made all the difference in the world. I would recommend her to any mom in need of breastfeeding assistance.
Robin Kaplan with San Diego Breastfeeding Center has been a life saver for me and my family. Like most new moms I was a bit unprepared for the complexity and woes of breastfeeding. Sure it’s a easy and beautiful thing...most of the time. But my first child did not latch properly and I was in tears; wanting to feed my child but in too much pain! Robins expertise not only got us off to the right start but helped me become more confident. Along the way...sometimes we can feel like our babies aren’t getting enough -or that we are not doing a good job but having Robin’s assistance I have learned so much. So you would think 16 months later with my 2nd child I would be good to go- but my second child was just like the first (with a difficult latch) so having access to the San Diego Breastfeeding Center and specifically Robin Kaplan is the best resource ever! My son successfully breastfed for 9 months, until I became pregnant. And my 8 week old is now a breastfeeding champ! What else can I say!
WOOHOO! Robin is a good as it gets! After major struggles breastfeeding my first child(even with the help of several lactation consultants), I was so happy to be referred to Robin with my second child. She was able to diagnose and fix problems that fours days of specialists and doctors( while I was in the hospital) were unable to figure out. Robin is knowledgeable, kind, supportive, understanding and works with you and your family to problem solve your breast feeding challenges however big or small. I’ve seen it all with my son: failure to gain weight, tongue-tie, reoccuring thrush, breast refusal, acid reflux/GERD, dairy allergy, nipple blisters, etc. Robin continues to go above and beyond, responding to emails immediately with a phone call even late in the evening and on weekends. I feel that she genuinely cares about each client. THANK YOU ROBIN! I am forever grateful for your help! Thank you for making this such a positive experience.
Robin has been fantastic! From the first class I took while still pregnant to learn easy breastfeeding techniques, to the reality of having difficulty with my daughter gaining weight and latching she has been a constant support. Robin even drove to my house in the pouring rain just to check my daughters weight to make sure we were on the right track. The support group at baby garten is fantastic, it’s a great opportunity to learn something and meet new moms, especially if you are like me and don’t have a lot of friends with other kids. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding I encourage you to put this on your list of resources!
Robin is knowledgeable and patient. She’s also a mother of two and her personal experience breastfeeding makes a big difference in her ability to relate to the range of challenges new moms face. She’s my go-to for any nursing question and always provides me with prompt, reliable information and resources. I’ve been working with her for the past six months and my confidence in breastfeeding is a testament to her good work!
