Sophie Talke is a Registered and Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). After seeing the importance and need of quality lactation care with friends and family members who were experiencing breastfeeding difficulties, Sophie decided to pursue her training to become an IBCLC. She knew that her education and training in Occupational Therapy would be a great compliment to becoming a lactation consultant.
Sophie completed her lactation consultant training and certification at the University of California, San Diego. She also holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, San Diego as well as a Master of Art in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California. She has over 8 years of experience working in the OT field where she has been able to work with individuals of all ages and in various settings. Sophie pursued her training to become an IBCLC before becoming a mother herself but states that this helped her tremendously when it came time to breastfeeding her own son.
Sophie lives in San Diego with her husband, Kurt, and their son, Jacob. She loves being active and spending time outdoors. Some of her favorite activities include swimming, running, hiking, and Pilates. As a family, they love to travel and explore new cities and places.
I have always been passionate about helping others and making a difference in their lives. Seeing close friends and family members struggle with breastfeeding challenges was eye-opening, and I deeply wanted to offer help and guidance. I learned more about some of these challenges including low milk supply and tongue-ties, and I knew that I wanted to continue learning more. I quickly signed up for the UCSD program to become an IBCLC and have not looked back. I am so excited to be able to offer supportive, quality care and to assist mothers in their breastfeeding journey.
